Clinical Implications of Drop Sign

The radiographic drop sign was first identified by Coonrad in simple and complex elbow fractures and dislocations. He defined this sign as an increased ulnohumeral joint distance greater than 3-4 mm. Complications associated with drop sign includes limited elbow motion leading to contracture which is associated with pain.
